We are looking for someone with DB pensions experience to join our special projects team. You will either be currently working in an actuarial team or come from a technical or administration pensions background with experience of pensions calculations and advanced excel skills (vLookups/Macros).

We can offer full study support if you want to start/continue the actuarial exams and there are salary increments with exam passes

Job Description:

What will you be doing:

Taking a significant role on a wide range of DB pensions projects for occupational DB pension clients, public sector DB pension clients and bulk annuity providers and may include any/all of the below plus other project types as they arise:Benefits and data due diligenceBenefit calculation auditsData validation and improvement/creation projectsCalculations testing (both doing calculations to test against automated results and using pensions knowledge to identify errors in/improve automated calculations)Benefit summary specification creation or reviewAttending client meetings or callsActing as the client’s primary point of contact on some projectsDocumenting issues/results with clear communication style by email and phoneProducing/reviewing consulting reports on projects, as required

Work includes:

Benefit calculation auditsData validation/audits and improvement/creation projects Benefits and data due diligenceBenefit correction/rectification exercisesBenefit calculation proforma for administration teams to use on smaller clientsCalculations testing (both doing calculations to test against automated results and using pensions knowledge to identify errors in/improve automated calculations)Benefit summary specification creation or reviewDocumenting issues/results with clear communication style by email and phoneLiaising with internal contacts across the wider pensions businessDrafting consulting reports on projects, as requiredKey Duties/Responsibilities:Supervising and checking work of junior team members, providing timely feedback and development support as appropriateWorking directly with actuaries within the special projects team and, if required, more widely within the actuarial departmentEnsuring a robust audit trail is produced for all work activitiesLiaising with administration onboarding teams and/or live administration teams to resolve identified issues in a pragmatic yet technically accurate waySupporting the management of the team’s workflow to achieve client deliveryTaking responsibility for own learning and development, keeping up to date with pensions’ regulatory developments

Who are we looking for?

Experience in a technical or administration role in DB pensions or currently working in an actuarial team this could be part qualified or qualified by experienceAdvanced Microsoft ExcelPensions calculationsExperience with public sector pensions is an advantageA practical, wide/deep knowledge of occupational DB pensionsFlexibility to work on different types of DB pensions projects, sometimes simultaneouslyAbility to deliver to tight timescalesClear communication with actuaries and non-actuariesMeticulous attention to detailAbility to work both independently and as part of a teamExperience of supporting and developing analysts through project workGood team player, with excellent attitude and flexible approach to work
