Hire Resolve is seeking an Actuarial Assistant on behalf of our client, a reputable short-term insurance company based in Sandton. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic organization and make a meaningful contribution to its Actuarial & Analytics team.

Responsibilities

Involvement in the entire IFRS 17 financial planning process and integration with the capital model. Assisting with the process surrounding local regulatory capital (SAM) and ORSA calculations. Supporting the reserving team during key valuations, including determining key reserve components across SAM and IFRS 17 bases. Assisting with reinsurance modeling considerations for comprehensive reinsurance structures ahead of renewals. Reporting for and engaging with various internal and external stakeholders in areas of responsibility. Driving process improvements and contributing ideas to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Requirements

Degree in Actuarial Science. Minimum completion of ASSA A1 & A2 technical exams or IFoA equivalent. Minimum 1 year of non-life insurance experience. Working knowledge of technical requirements in short-term insurance or reinsurance, particularly reserving methodologies and SAM valuation principles. Proven track record of applying actuarial principles and methods. Knowledge of the South African regulatory environment for non-life insurers. Ability to distil and communicate complex financial information and reports to various parties. Strong ability to critically assess and review own work. Computer Skills: Advanced MS Office and intermediate proficiency in SQL, R, Power BI, and Python. Proficient in English.
