Actuarial Analysts with American Modern Insurance Group have the opportunity to work in three primary areas that will develop their actuarial skills: Pricing, Reserving and Predictive Modeling. Work in these areas involves the following types of activities:
Pricing
• Development of rate level indications for all lines of business
• Selection of pricing levels for each state and line in close collaboration with Product Management
• Development of strategies to drive profitable growth
• Filing support for rate changes
• Development of profitability scorecards that drive strategy and resource allocation
• Annual Loss Ratio Planning
• Special Projects
• Predictive Modeling
• Data preparation and cleansing for modeling
• Statistical modeling using R
• Pricing Model implementation support
• Statistical Modeling to support Marketing, Underwriting and Claims
Reserving
• Analysis of Loss and Loss Adjustment Reserves
• Monitoring of Reserve Adequacy
• Development of Quarterly IBNR Booking Amounts
• Special Projects
• Financial Reporting including support for Annual Statement Reporting, IFRS Reporting and Solvency II
• Cooperation with Internal and External Auditors and Consultants
• Interact with other Reserving Actuaries in North America
In addition, actuarial analysts will have the opportunity to enhance and further develop their business acumen by working and interacting with associates from Claims, Underwriting, Product Management, Finance, IT, Portfolio Analysis and other areas of the company.
Required:
• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or similar background requiring quantitative analysis.
• GPA 3.2 or higher
• Successful completion of 1 or more actuarial exams
• Strong analytical abilities including understanding of advanced mathematics and statistical concepts.
• Demonstrated ability to think logically and perform analysis in a timely manner.
• Solid written and oral communication skills.
• Strong command of Excel as well as some knowledge of programming and databases such as SQL, Visual Basic and Macros
• Completed at least 1 actuarial internship
Preferred:
• GPA 3.5 or higher
• Successful completion of 2 or more actuarial exams
• 2+ years experience in Property Casualty Insurance
