An Activities Associate is responsible for leading various recreational and social activities for individuals or groups. The Activities Associate promotes engaging programs and events that enhance physical, mental, and social well-being. They interact with participants, assess their needs and interests, and tailor activities to meet those preferences. Additionally, they may assist with administrative tasks, maintain supplies and equipment, and ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all participants.
Roles and Responsibilities
• Executes programs, activities, events, and entertainment to enhance the lives of our residents.
• Promotes initiatives that inspire spiritual, cognitive, social, physical, and creative expressions.
• Promotes and communicates upcoming activities and events to encourage participation.
• Determines appropriate activity levels based on residents’ cognitive and physical abilities.
• Prepares materials and sets up spaces for activities, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
• Leads and documents group and individual activities, including arts and crafts, games, music sessions, physical exercises, and social events.
• Works closely with other staff members, including nursing, therapy, and administrative teams, to ensure a holistic approach to residents’ care and engagement.
• Participates in staff meetings and contributes to the ongoing development of activity programs.
• Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education: High School / GED
Experience: 0-1 years
Licenses and Certifications
Valid and unencumbered drivers license required.
In the event the incumbent provides transportation services to residents, they must possess and maintain the appropriate valid license and/or certifications required to operate vehicles for transporting residents safely and in compliance with all applicable state regulations. In addition, those working in Kentucky must complete a Department of Transportation (DOT) physical before providing transportation services.
Physical Requirements
Sitting, standing, bending, reaching, stretching, stooping, walking, and moving intermittently during working hours. Must be able to lift at least 50lbs. Must be able to maintain verbal and written communication with co-workers, supervisors, residents, family members, visitors, vendors, and all business associates outside of the health campus.
