State Classified HourlyNo Overtime Eligible Description of Work Unit This work unit exists to record, bill, collect, monitor activity, report results, reconcile and research receivable transactions and resolve billing problems for the majority of receivable transactions of the university. This unit also exists to play an important role in the recruitment and retention of students by insuring that payment and collection policies are in place that make financing a student’s higher education a possibility. The unit must continuously balance the need for fiscal prudence with sensitive and realistic application of Federal, State and University policies that governing billing and the collection of receivables. Policies and procedures must be adopted and enforced which are workable for students, parents, loan borrowers, donors, commercial clients, sponsors of students, etc. Position Summary The Accounts Receivable/Loans Accounting Technician reports to the Accounts Receivable Accountant/Assistant Manager and is a part of the ARO team. The purpose of this position is to assist in reconciling and analyzing the University receivables and report account differences to the ARO Accountant/Assistant Manager. Provide consistent service to all student and commercial customers by assisting customers and department personnel with questions concerning student, commercial, collection, and loan accounts. For loans, this position educates and counsels borrowers and other persons regarding federal and institutional compliance and, in the process, assures compliance with all rules and regulations while maintaining and updating borrower records in the computerized loan database system. This position assists in the monitoring and maintenance of federal and institutional student loan programs, as well as with collection processes. The successful candidate must be legally authorized to work in the United States by the proposed start date; the department will not sponsor a visa for this position. Use judgment to place and remove holds on registration, transcripts, diplomas and future financial aid. + Process monthly benefit mail notifying borrowers of the status of their loans. + Send and process monthly loan exit interview paperwork from student loan borrowers. + Access AmeriCorps website to download borrower information to process AmeriCorps payments and forbearance requests after analysis of borrower account. + Credit reporting on loans to ensure complete and accurate reporting of all federal loans to designated credit bureau reporting services each month, as required by federal regulation. Process credit bureau disputes by analyzing complete history and comparing to current credit bureau reporting. Respond to individual credit disputes in a timely manner with current, complete and accurate information. Process corrections as needed. Percentage Of Time30% Job Duty CategoryReconciliations Duty/Responsibility + Reconciliations include providing backup for the ARO Banner/ KFS reconciliation for CSU Fort Collins and the Campus Receivable Collector/ KFS reconciliation. + Research accounts for differences between various systems. Reconciliations and correction suggestions must be prepared and submitted monthly to the ARO Assistant Manager/Accountant. + Assist with the compiling of data and reconciliation of the Institutional Loan Program ( RAMS Loan) for quarterly reporting. Percentage Of Time20% Job Duty CategoryLoan Collections Duty/Responsibility + Provide support for the collection of Institutional Loan ( RAMS Loan/Webster Barnes), HPSL , and Perkins Loan by being aware of individual loan programs, school policies and procedures for them, and updating information in manual or system form. + Assist Special Assets staff with questions relating to loans that are assigned to Special Assets and/or external collections. Percentage Of Time10% Job Duty CategoryARO Support Duty/Responsibility + Provide customer service support for current and past due Commercial Accounts and Student accounts. This includes, but is not limited to, analyzing data from multiple University computer systems and modules to determine recommended solutions, answering phone calls, replying to emails, assisting students in the office, etc. + Serve as backup for daily and miscellaneous duties of the Accounting Technician III positions. This includes, but is not limited to, running, reviewing, and processing daily reports, distributing information to the appropriate individuals, processing TWARBUS batches for various internal and external departmental needs, having a basic understanding of Third-Party Sponsor Billing process, etc. + Assist Special Assets staff with questions regarding ARO accounts that are assigned to Special Assets and/or external collections. + Understand the intricacies of the various systems utilized with ARO .
