Description We are in the process of recruiting an Accounts Payable Specialist for our operations in the automotive sector, based in Richmond, Virginia. In this role, you will be expected to manage customer applications, maintain customer records accurately, and address customer inquiries promptly. Additionally, you will be tasked with monitoring customer accounts and taking necessary actions where required.
Responsibilities:
• Accurately processing customer credit applications in a timely manner.
• Maintaining precise records of customer credit.
• Taking the lead on research into invoice issues and payment statuses.
• Providing support to both internal and external customers on matters such as vendor setup, payment terms and methods, payment status, and resolution of discrepancies.
• Performing basic accounting tasks to ensure the accuracy of vendor profile data, transactions, and account balances.
• Conducting vendor setup and maintenance, recording payment cancellations and voucher corrections, resolving debit balances, and reconciling general ledger accounts against subsystems.
• Recording journal entries and participating in general ledger close activities.
• Sharing your knowledge with team members, stabilizing new processes, and maintaining proper documentation.
• Training others, acting as a subject matter expert for business initiatives, contributing ideas for process improvements, and validating standard work.
• Updating training manuals and supporting special projects as needed.
This position offers a long-term contract employment opportunity. Requirements • Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) operations, including processing, verifying, and reconciling invoices.
• Excellent customer service skills, with the ability to handle queries and resolve problems efficiently.
• Strong competency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to create spreadsheets, use advanced functions, and analyze data.
• A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Previous experience in an Accounts Payable role within the Automotive industry is preferred.
• Solid understanding of basic bookkeeping and accounting payable principles.
• Proven ability to calculate, post, and manage accounting figures and financial records.
• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure.
• Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations related to accounts payable.
• Familiarity with accounting software, preferably within the automotive industry.
• Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.
