Accounts Payable Lead

The Accounts Payable Lead is responsible for overseeing the daily activities of team members. The position is responsible for researching and resolving various accounting, invoice and payment processing, and Supplier issues. The Lead directs team members toward department goals and supports the workload by reviewing processes and procedures to improve workflow. Communication and problem solving are key components of the position.

Essential Functions

Ensure clear and current communications with team members regarding AP proceduresRelay Company communications to team members and field questions, if necessaryEnsure continued progress toward department goalsAssist team members with new processes to accomplish team goals and individual KPIsEncourage and assist team members in a positive mannerImprove and maintain Supplier relationships through effective communicationEscalate Supplier inquiries and/or complaints to Supervisor when necessaryAddress past due accounts and escalate issues to Supervisor/Manager immediatelyWork with AP Supervisor and other departments on process improvementsReview weekly AP reports with Supervisor and assist with resolving issuesComplete assigned tasks and projects from AP Supervisor/ManagerAssist with the development of goals and KPIs for team membersReview KPIs for transaction processing time to ensure terms are metEffectively and efficiently communicate with AP Supervisor/Manager regarding workload imbalances and needs for process improvement or staffing changesStrong knowledge of and comfort with Oracle applicationsStrong problem solving, data analysis, multi-tasking, research, resolution and communication skillsIntermediate to advanced computer program skills in Microsoft Office and ExcelProven ability to interact with team members and Suppliers in a professional manner, organize and set priorities, work effectively under pressure and maintain confidentialityAbility to train others, promote teamwork, exhibit leadership and creativity and have a strong work ethicProven track record of integrity and trust; motivated to achieve goalsPlease note this job description is not designed to contain a comprehensive list of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
