Description We are offering a permanent employment opportunity for an Accounts Payable Clerk in New York, New York. In this role, you will be expected to maintain and manage vendor accounts, process vendor invoices, and provide the necessary support to ensure the organization's financial obligations are met.
Responsibilities:
• Manage vendor accounts assigned to you
• Accurately process vendor invoices and verify financial data to maintain accounts payable records
• Address and clarify any discrepancies or queries regarding invoice items, prices, or receiving signatures
• Gather accurate information and/or data for invoice payments
• Assemble invoices to be completed for payment
• Calculate extensions and totals on invoices, considering discounts when applicable
• Review invoices and requisitions to ensure satisfactory payment approval
• Maintain a record of vouchers, invoices, or correspondence necessary for financial records
• Prepare journal entries with details like invoice number, date, vendor address, item description, amounts, and codes according to accounting policies and procedures
• Reconcile vendor statements
• Prepare supporting schedules for annual financial audits and as required
• Assist with financial close at the end of the month
• Perform other related duties as assigned. Requirements • Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) processes and procedures
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables and vlookup
• Familiarity with accounting software programs
• Ability to manage and reconcile invoices
• Experience in processing and tracking payments
• Good understanding of general ledger systems
• Excellent data entry skills with attention to detail
• Proven ability to meet deadlines in a high volume environment
• Solid communication skills, both written and verbal
• A minimum of a high school diploma, preferably a degree in Finance or Accounting
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask
• Experience in a similar role would be advantageous.
