Accounting Supervisor - L&S Operations

Position Summary:

MPLX Logistics and Storage (L&S) Accounting records costs and revenue for the L&S segment, prepares financial statements for operated joint ventures, engages with the business through financial reports, and maintains accounting records for SEC and Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) reporting.

The Accounting Supervisor supports the end-to-end accounting and reporting processes for L&S operated joint ventures and FERC filings entities. This position will oversee the applicable accounting processes and preparation of financial reports.  This position collaborates with those inside and outside accounting to ensure the integrity of financial statements.  The successful candidate should be results driven and a self-starter with strong analytic skills and the ability to work in a team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Coach, mentor, and train a four-person accounting team

Collaborate with the manager to set and monitor annual goals and metrics for their team

Review accounting transactions and journal entries recorded in the accounting systems

Review account reconciliations, financial analysis, and other documentation

Ensure the execution of internal controls monthly, quarterly, and annually

Work with Technical Accounting to review new or complex contracts and establish appropriate accounting processes

Coordinate and review the preparation of monthly JV financial statements and annual audited financial statements

Oversee other JV accounting activities such as cash flow forecasting and distributions, accounting for debt, preparation and analysis for owners meeting, budget preparation and variance analysis

Oversee FERC accounting activities including the coordination, preparation, and filing of quarterly and annual Form 6 reports

Supervise the research of FERC accounting issues and FERC accounting-related special projects

Facilitate questions and requests from various business partners

Lead/participate in special projects as assigned

Drive for continuous improvement of business and systems processes, while maintaining integrity of controls and accuracy of the financial statements

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting required.

Minimum 6 years’ accounting, finance, or related experience required.

CPA preferred
