Accounting Specialist
Description We are offering a contract to permanent employment opportunity for an Accounting Specialist in Houston, Texas. The role involves a wide range of accounting functions and requires proficiency in various software and tools. The workplace is a hybrid setting, requiring both onsite and remote work. Responsibilities: • Efficiently and accurately process customer credit applications • Manage all aspects of check distribution on a daily basis using Bottomline software • Ensure accuracy by balancing Check Registers against Batch Status reports • Prepare checks for mailing, including Certified Regular FedEx and delivery to the mailroom • Handle Special Handling requests and attachments associated with outgoing checks • Conduct check cancellations and 'Do Not Mail' requests as necessary • Oversee the monthly check processing of the LIS NPI Pottstown Retirees and Tax uploads • Maintain Certified Mail Log and FedEx Daily Closing Report • Ensure upkeep of all check stuffing and printing equipment, including check stock toner and envelopes • Oversee archiving of check-related data • Handle running payment program function for electronic payments • Manage POS Pay notifications from banks on checks needing decisions to pay • Correct Payment Failures due to incorrect banking information, incorrect currency, incorrect payment method, payment refused or unknown issues received from the banks • Manage 2 mailboxes associated with Payment Admin/Check Admin areas • Research and resolve payment issues • Recommend and evaluate improvements and streamlining opportunities in areas of responsibility. Requirements • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word • Familiarity with Microsoft PowerPoint • Experience with Accounts Payable (AP) • Knowledge of Payment Processing procedures • Ability to conduct thorough Research • Experience in Review and Supervising activities • Skills in Check Processing • Excellent Time Management abilities • Understanding of Tax regulations • Familiarity with Printing processes • Experience with Closing financial periods • Knowledge of SAP R/3 software • Experience in Streamlining processes • Comfortable with Onsite work • Ability to Ensure Accuracy in all tasks • Experience with FedEx shipping procedures • Knowledge of Archiving procedures • Familiarity with Notifications systems • Experience in Transaction Processing • Comfortable working in a Mailroom environment • Ability to generate Status Reports • Knowledge of Electronic Payments procedures • Experience with Certified Mail procedures Robert Half is the world’s first and largest specialized talent solutions firm that connects highly qualified job seekers to opportunities at great companies.
