Job Description:
Adolfson & Peterson Construction, one of the nation’s top contractors, is recruiting for an experienced Accounting Specialist for our Mountains region. We combine more than 75 years of construction expertise with the newest technologies in order to meet our clients' needs. We serve owners, architects, and developers with a commitment to teamwork and quality and are constantly looking for people to help us achieve our company goals.
This position will process information from and payments to material suppliers and general payable vendors, assist with the preparation of owner and miscellaneous project invoices, approving and posting invoices, month-end accounts payable close, processing owner payments, and assist with LCP/Certified Payroll, B2G & Gallagher Reporting as needed. Review and reconcile vendor statements and bank statements. Help with use taxes, fuel card statement and other duties as needed.

Key Accountabilities:
Take personal responsibility for working safely within an Incident and Injury Free (IIF) culture. Ensure financial operations are compliant with company expectations, processes, and controls.
Sort mail for the department.
Prepare journal entries as required.
Evaluate, assess, and initiate improvements on processes between finance and operations functions of the business.
Build and maintain good relations and communications with both internal and external customers, including vendors, subcontractors, and project managers.
Answer inquiries on the status of accounts from suppliers, general payables vendors, and internal customers.
Work with field team members and customers to get invoices approved.
Assist with processing vendor payments.
Code, enter, and scan material invoices into the accounting system; take available discounts as appropriate.
Code and electronically route material invoices.
Set up new vendor information in Spectrum and update as necessary.
Process vendor check runs and payments.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
High school diploma or equivalent and 2+ years of relevant accounting experience. Accounts payable, accounts receivable, and construction accounting experience preferred. Experience and familiarity with the A/E/C industry preferred.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel. Familiarity with construction accounting software is a plus.
Basic understanding of GAAP.
Demonstrated integrity and ethical standards.
Developed skills (written, oral, and listening) in order to effectively communicate with diverse audiences.
Ability to efficiently manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously under time constraints.
