We are looking for an Accounting Manager to join our accounting and finance function in the UK which serves EMEA. This role would be ideally suited to a qualified accountant seeking line management responsibilities. The team is currently responsible for the UK and German legal entities which are subsidiaries of Smartsheet Inc, a US company listed on the NYSE.
The successful candidate will have oversight of key areas of UK and Germany financial reporting and will play a key role in the growth of the EMEA accounting department. As a leader within the UK accounting team, you will perform a variety of tasks as detailed below.

You will report to the Director, Accounting EMEA – based in Edinburgh. This role is a hybrid position and you must be willing to travel to Edinburgh once a week for team meetings/events.
You Will:
Support, and help to oversee the work distribution of the EMEA accounting Sr. Accountants Take responsibility for delivering key sections of monthly close reporting in accordance with our US reporting timetable Prepare and review detailed variance analyses Review and risk assess balance sheet reconciliations Review entity cashflow statements and the relevant supporting documentation Oversee the invoice and employee expense approval processes within EMEA, ensuring compliance to tax regulations and supporting VAT reporting requirements Demonstrate technical expense accounting knowledge, and be able to drive change and efficiency improvements Communicate widely, across timezones, developing positive working relationships Play a key role in managing external audits, ensuring adherence to internal controls Perform other duties as assignedYou Have:
5 + years of progressive experience in accounting functions Detailed knowledge of how to effectively execute a monthly close process Relevant accountancy qualification (CA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA) Detailed knowledge of UK GAAP (FRS 102), ideally including leases Knowledge of VAT (with experience coding invoices for VAT and filing VAT returns) Knowledge of an ERP system (preferably NetSuite) Experience of developing and reviewing statements of cashflow Experience with external financial statement audits Strong planning and organisational skills and the ability to prioritise tasks A detail-oriented approach, a positive attitude and a desire to learn Excellent written and verbal communication skills Willingness to accept responsibility Strong analytical ability and proficiency in Excel Legally eligible to work in the UK on an ongoing basisPerks & Benefits:
