Job Summary:

The Accounting Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Controller in overseeing the accounting operations, particularly in managing government contracts and construction projects. This role includes supervising accounting department staff, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, maintaining compliance with government regulations, and optimizing financial processes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, government contracting, and construction project management.


Key Responsibilities:

Supervision and Team Leadership: Lead and supervise the accounting team, including setting goals, providing training, and conducting performance evaluations. Oversee daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger. Financial Reporting and Compliance: Assist in  preparing and reviewing financial statements, ensuring accuracy and compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles). Conduct regular financial analysis and provide insights to management for decision-making. Ensure timely and accurate month-end and year-end closing processes. Internal Controls and Process Improvement: Develop, implement, and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with policies and regulations. Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in accounting operations. Audit and Tax Compliance: Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits, ensuring timely provision of required documentation and information. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations and prepare tax filings as necessary.

Qualifications:

Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred. Minimum of 5-7 years of accounting experience, with at least 2-3 years in a supervisory role. Experience in government contract accounting and construction accounting is a plus. Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Deltek Costpoint, Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate). Strong understanding of GAAP, knowledge of FAR, DFARS, and CAS a plus. Advanced Excel skills and experience with financial analysis tools.
