Accounting Manager

You will be an Accounting Manager that will oversee and supervise a team for the operational aspects of the accounting functions - accounts receivable, cash applications, and customer services. This role will report to the Controller and partner closely with the CFO and senior management in accounting related responsibilities. RESPONSIBILITIES + Assist with the general ledger operations, including hands on work with journal entries, reconciliations, and account analysis + Design and maintenance of the ERP systems, and management of external audits (carrier and financial statement audits)  + Follow-up preparation of monthly close financial reports and related variance analysis for delivery to the operational managers + Business process design with considerations for efficiency gains and solid accounting controls + Partner with stakeholders in understanding of their financial statements, and the ability to add value through consulting and advising + Master data design, ability to understand the systems aspects and capabilities + Manage across boundaries, influence decision makers, and adhere to policies and controls. + Deliver solutions, metrics, reports, and operational updates to the business + Process of insurance bordereaux (reporting and filing with re-insurance carriers) + Manage, guide, and mentor a team of 3-5 direct reports + Other duties as assigned by management SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS + Bachelor’s degree in accounting + 5+ years in operational accounting (accounts receivables, cash applications, customer services), financial reporting, general ledger management + Supervisory experience managing a high performing operational team + Strong understanding of meta data and the ability to reconcile, analyze and draw conclusions from it + Experience in insurance, reinsurance, or brokerage strongly desired + Knowledge of the monthly insurance bordereaux process is helpful + Tax filings knowledge is preferred + Workday or IMS experience is extra bonus points + Highly task oriented and understands internally the necessity of deadlines which may require considerable time and effort during the fiscal year + Must be self-driven, detail oriented, and possess strong organizational skills including time-management and prioritization. LOCATION + This is a hybrid role with minimum 2 days/week in our NYC office COMPENSATION AND PERKS + $130,000 - $150,000 base salary plus yearly bonus.
