We are seeking an experienced Accounting Governance Manager who will be responsible for overseeing accounting functions including Audit, Tax, and Internal Controls. The Corporate Governance Manager reports directly to the Controller and interacts with senior leaders and the CFO, which requires strong interpersonal communication skills both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities Overview:

 

• Ensures that company financial records are maintained in compliance with company policies and US GAAP
• Responsible for management of all external audits, coordinating audit activities, managing relationships with third-party consultants, and overseeing the production of all financial audits
• Supervise and coordinate the completion of Federal and State tax reporting requirements with external tax consultants including the analysis of 179D and R&D tax incentives
• Forecasting cash requirements for Federal and State income tax on a quarterly basis
• Assist with ad-hoc analysis to executive leadership on special projects
• Monitor financial systems for optimal efficiency, recommending upgrades and new software as needed
• Lead implementation process for any adopted financial systems
• Design, implement, and maintain comprehensive accounting policies, procedures, and controls in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements
• Provide guidance and advice on internal control procedures, issue resolution, and best practices
• Provide technical accounting support to all departments
• Draft technical accounting memos related to emerging accounting standards, pronouncements, and regulatory changes, providing guidance and interpretation on complex accounting issues and transactions.
• Assist with application of revenue recognition guidelines for project revenue, analyzing project financials on a monthly basis and assist project managers with financial guidance
• Support the functions of the Financial Reporting Manager and Controller as needed

 

Qualifications

Required skills and experience for the position include:

 

• Accounting Degree
• CPA certification required
• Public Accounting experience required
• 10 years of accounting experience in multi-state environment, international experience a plus
• Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams
• Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions
• Strong knowledge of compliance issues related to assurance, tax, and internal controls
• Strong communication, interpersonal skills
