We have an opportunity for a hands-on Controller for a Mid-Size GovCon to join our talented Operations team.  As the head of accounting, you will be overseeing the accounting department and the timely preparation of financial reports. You will plan, direct and coordinate all accounting functions including but not limited to Annual Audit, ICS, AP, cash receipts, invoicing/billing, AR, GL, Financial Reporting, Annual Budget, payroll, tax reporting and compliance.

Responsibilities include:

Planning, directing, and coordinating all accounting operational functions through Unanet ERP system and Power BI. Preparation, in compliance with accounting standards (GAAP), of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and analysis for parent company, joint ventures, and subsidiaries to include monthly variance GL analysis vs budget and ensuring costs are allocated to proper GL accounts.Coordinate financial and government audits, working closely with external auditors, and government agenciesWork with external tax CPAs on annual S-Corp tax returns, estimates and projections Manage and provide recommendations to current business processes and accounting policies to maintain, enforce, and monitor internal controls to protect assets and ensure financial accuracy.  Overseeing regulatory reporting, frequently including tax planning and complianceResponsible for preparing journal entries, and reviewing entries made by others and ensure proper documentation for all entries.Familiarity with DCMA, DCAA, Incurred Cost Submission (ICS) and able to model indirect rate impacts/scenariosOverseeing and prepare regulatory reporting, BPOL reporting, filing of local property taxes and manage state and local tax jurisdictionsSupervise semi-monthly payroll and manage payroll taxes compliance Assist in development of annual financial budgets and financial forecasting, working closely with operations assuring that projections accomplish corporate goals.Monitor cash flow metrics, including debt levels, borrowing and compliance with lending covenantsReconcile all bank and major balance sheet accountsManage the accounting team and the operations of the accounting department, including the design of an organizational structure adequate for achieving the department's goals and objectivesCoordinate the AR/AP process and ensure accurate revenue and cost recognition.Collaborate with the Contracts Department to review government and commercial contracts and subcontract agreements as part of Contract Awards and Modifications Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance requiredCPA or CMA PreferredAt least 6-10 years progressively responsible management positions within the government contracting industry. A portion of that experience in a medium sized business is preferred.3-5 years Unanet ERP GovConDemonstrated expertise with FFP, T&M, and CPFF government contractsExcellent interpersonal and coaching skills.Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with the executive management team that provides company leadership and direction.Intermediate to Expert level proficiency with Microsoft Excel requiredGAAP, working knowledge of government contracting rules and regulations (e.g FAR), Government Contract Accounting, DCAA contractor information and Cost Accounting Standards a plus.High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.Outstanding accounting skills with attention to detail and accuracyDeveloped problem-solving and analytical abilitiesAbility to multi-task and manage time accordingly to meet deadlinesAbility to work independentlyExcellent presentation & communication skills in both oral and written form
