Accounting Clerk III - Lead
ACCOUNTING CLERK - LEAD LOCATION - Onsite (Indianapolis, IN) Position Summary The Accounting Clerk III - Lead (AC III L) supports the CBP Administration Systems, Travel Section, and/or Payroll Branches by providing direction, instructions and guidance to the contractor team and coordinating with the Project Manager, in addition to essential functions assigned to the Accounting Clerk III position. This position is responsible for the selection and application of CBP established procedures and techniques and for the protection of sensitive financial information. TEAM LEAD FUNCTIONS + Welcome and train new staff on site and/or virtually, as required. + Assign work and coordinating with the Task Monitor(s) and Project Manager to clarify instructions, assignments, and training. + Maintain department SOPs, solution matrices, training materials, or related procedural manuals/guidelines. + Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME). + Audit and review work tasks and coordinate corrections. + Obtain and provide reports. + Coordinate scheduling, both daily and during high volume periods. + Meet regularly with the Project Manager to communicate any current or potential issues that may affect team cohesion or work production. Essential Functions + Accounts Payable Branch (Travel Service Desk): + Process manual and automated authorizations and vouchers associated with a variety of activities including but not limited to travel, audits, agent relocations, vendor payments, and invoices. + Provide superior customer service support via phone and email to assist users with various Travel related inquiries including but not limited to the use of Concur software system. + Research and resolve or escalate inquiries or issues as appropriate. + Maintain proper knowledge base to best assist customers and team. + Administer department specific program(s). + Perform mail desk functions. + Other duties as assigned. JOB SPECIFICATIONS/Qualifications + High school diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) AND a minimum of 2 years of post-high school education from an accredited college or university in a business, management, finance or accounting field of study; OR a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting or related field of study. + Must be proficient using the Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint). + Knowledge of and/or experience with accounting principles and practices. + Prior experience leading a small team of individuals with a common goal. + Prior experience with SAP, ServiceNow, and Concur software systems is beneficial, but not required. OTHER REQUIREMENTS Clerical: Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and other office procedures and terminology. Language: Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Communication: Ability to communicate effectively in writing and in person as appropriate for the needs of the audience. Customer Service: Ability to address all customer inquiries with a pleasant and patient demeanor. Math Ability: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to compute rates, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret information. Ability to choose the right mathematical methods or formulas to solve a problem. Reasoning Ability: Ability to collect data, define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions dealing with several abstract and concrete variables. Computer Skills: Proficiency with computers and ability to navigate/enter information into established databases and Microsoft Office products. Work Environment: Work is performed in an office cubicle environment with low noise level. Physical Demands: The position may require lifting of boxes weighing up to 30 lbs. Employee will have consistent and direct visual contact with a computer monitor. Other Demands: Must comply with company policies including but not limited to those involving safety, protection of privacy, cyber security, and general conduct. Security Clearance Must be able to secure and maintain a U.S. Customs and Border Protection background investigation.
