Job Title: Accounting Specialist
Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Accounting Specialist to join our team. This role involves a mix of reception duties, purchasing/payables assistance, and payroll processing. The ideal candidate will have experience with union payroll and a strong understanding of accounting principles. You will be working in a collaborative environment, with responsibilities spread across our multiple office locations.

ResponsibilitiesAnswer phones, sort mail, and perform filing and scanning duties.Assist with obtaining final invoices for Purchase Orders upon job completion. Contact vendors to verify rental returns and confirm all invoices for POs.Post receipts for credit card purchases. Review credit card statements and follow up with cardholders for missing receipts.Assist Accounts Payable with invoice entry during busy periods.Review union dispatch and I-9 forms for accuracy.Enter new employees into the system and verify information for existing employees.Create timecards from job timesheets and enter time into journals, reconciling to job timesheets.Essential SkillsProficiency in Microsoft Office365 (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)Experience with Dynamics, reporting, and Microsoft ExcelKnowledge of payroll tax, union payroll, and payroll softwareExperience with accounts payable, general ledger, and payroll processingStrong data entry and accounting skillsAbility to perform reconciliation and payroll accountingAnalytical skills for accounting and financial analysisAdditional Skills & QualificationsCustomer service experienceExperience with VoIP phone systemsFamiliarity with general office equipment (printers, copiers, scanners)Experience with Microsoft Navision Attain accounting systemStrong understanding of job cost accounting principlesUnion workplace payroll experienceWork Environment

This role is based in a gated compound, where you might be by yourself in the building at times. The standard working hours are from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. The company operates in a job-cost oriented environment, focusing on the fabrication and repair of pressure vessels for commercial and industrial customers throughout the northwest. The Tacoma branch office staff is primarily responsible for accounting prep work related to local job activities, but also provides support to the Portland headquarters when necessary. Work includes purchasing, payables, job billing, and payroll, with final processing handled at the headquarters.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $26.00/hr.
