At PwC, our people in deals focus on providing strategic advice and support to clients in areas such as mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, and restructuring. They help clients navigate complex transactions and maximise value in their business deals.In capital markets accounting advisory services at PwC, you will focus on providing strategic guidance on a broad range of technical accounting, financial reporting, transaction structures and capital markets topics. You will advise clients on complex accounting advisory and financial reporting issues around deals (both public and private) and other transformational business events that may impact an organisation’s value.

Capital Markets and Accounting Advisory Services is a transactions and accounting advisory business within Consulting and Risk Services, providing assistance on deals accounting, sustainability reporting, digital finance and reporting, capital markets assurance and advisory, IPO readiness and accounting standards change to clients in Southern Africa and the rest of Africa. The department is currently experiencing growth, driven by long term client relationships and a strong senior team. In order to take full advantage of the existing growth opportunities we are looking for an ambitious and highly motivated person to join our team.
Essential skills and experience
Qualified CA(SA) with more than 5 years post articles experience
Preference to be given to someone with Financial Instrument Technical Accounting, Derivative and Hedge Accounting, and Derivative Valuations experience.
IFRS 9 practical application experience.
Required qualifications
CA (SA).
Financial Risk Management or Financial Instrument Valuation certificates/credentials or similar qualifications advantageous.

Responsibilities
The successful applicant will:
Establish and maintain relationships with clients and other stakeholders within and outside of the network to identify and take advantages of opportunities.
Plan, manage and participate in various engagements primarily focused on financial instruments and derivatives.
Support audit teams as well as clients with the review or implementation of financial instrument accounting and associated reporting matters.
Upskill managers in financial instrument and derivative technical accounting and other reporting issues.
Conduct industry research on the application of IFRS 9, review financial and governance processes, and provide IFRS application support.
Prepare and review deliverables tailored to client needs.
Collaborate with valuations, IT, risk, and other professionals to understand dependencies and integration points, as well as deliver comprehensive solutions for our clients.
Understand the treasury and financial risk management environment and recognise key performance drivers, business trends, new technical and industry developments.
Demonstrate an awareness of significant developments in all areas of IFRS and start demonstrating an in-depth knowledge in a specialist area of IFRS.
Demonstrate an ability to work on multiple engagements and for multiple partners at the same time, making sound judgements about balancing conflicting objectives.
Use technology to continually learn, share knowledge with team members, and enhance service delivery.
Attend training programs and technical forums to continually develop skills required to continue to deliver quality service offerings to our external clients and other internal PwC service lines.
