Accountant Sr II (Hybrid Schedule)

Position Description

This position is responsible for general accounting functions that support the Kinder Morgan Energy Transition Ventures (ETV).  ETV business segment focuses on producing and delivery of landfill derived RNG along with carbon capture and sequestration opportunities to meet today’s energy transition needs.  This position will focus on assimilating and maintaining acquisitions and expansion projects into our standard accounting practices.  We offer a hybrid schedule (Monday-Wednesday in office, Thursday-Friday remotely).  We also offer a 9/80 Work Schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Set monthly deadlines and collaborate with the team to ensure timely and accurate completion of all accounting tasks.Perform and Oversee Month-End Closing, including Revenues, Expense (OPEX & Capital), COGS accruals, and journal entry recording.Understand and evaluate the Customer contracts to ensure accurate revenue recognition.  Also work with compliance groups in fulfilling related SOX and ASC 606 related reporting requirements.Assess royalty and revenue share agreements to develop and implement a structured billing and payment process that aligns with the terms of the contract.Oversee the revenue billing process for various ETV plants.Perform monthly WACOG (Weighted Average Cost of Goods), inventory, and intercompany calculations.Coordinate with the team for timely AR collections and follow-ups. Review monthly AR aging report and provide explanation to management.Conduct monthly variance analysis and provide detailed explanations.Prepare and approve Balance Sheet Reconciliations ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items.Review and approve JEs for proper documentation and compliance with company policy.Complete monthly and annual volumetric and financial reporting to various government entities and to State tax authorities.Assist in evaluating billing system requirements, oversee the implementation process, and perform the final user acceptance testing.Provide guidance and training to the accounting team to ensure efficient execution of financial transactions.Work closely with other departments to support the business goal and build positive working relationships.Maintain SOX compliance and consolidate related documentation.Assist with internal/external audit requests and perform additional Ad Hoc duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Position Requirements/Education:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting required8-10 years of progressive experience in an accounting-related position in an energy industry with strong knowledge of general accounting procedures requiredMust have strong computer skills, intermediate to advanced knowledge of Excel is mandatory.Limited knowledge of QuickBooks is preferred.
