Accountant II / Sr. I (Hybrid Schedule)

Position Description

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Perform monthly and quarterly accounting functions for Texas Crude Operations under the Products Pipeline Business Segment.  Primary responsibility will be the Kinder Morgan Crude & Condensate PipelinePerform and assist with monthly close procedures, including preparation of monthly journal entries relating to margin and inventoryThroughput billing and monitoring of Accounts Receivable collectionsAnalyze and explain variances - actuals to last forecast and week over week forecastInventory reconciliation review, analysis and booking of physical gain/loss on a monthly basisCreate and maintain various Excel spreadsheets for revenue and deficiency tracking as neededContract analysis for new/amended revenue contractsMaintain and prepare balance sheet reconciliations and ensure compliance with corporate policiesSOX controls documentationQuarterly flux analysisBacklog calculation on quarters in accordance with ASC 606Work closely with Business Development, Scheduling, and Forecasting groups to ensure completeness and accuracy of the Gross Margin accounting

Position Requirements

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance from an accredited universityCPA preferred

JOB REQUIREMENTS

At least 3+ years of previous accounting or finance related work experienceAdvanced knowledge of GAAP accounting principlesProficiency in financial reporting, analysis, and reconciliationsRead, understand, and interpret customer contracts and amendmentsStrong analytical skillsAdvanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applicationsMust be self-motivated and detail orientedMust be able to successfully perform multiple tasks simultaneously, and often with strict deadlines, while maintaining a high quality of work productAbility to work overtime during high volume periods, including but not limited to month/quarter/year end closeAbility to work cooperatively and effectively with othersAbility to work well in a team and/or with limited supervisionGood at prioritizing and planning multiple tasks and meeting deadlinesMust pass a Kinder Morgan drug screen and background check

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

Knowledge of Lawson financial software

Hybrid work schedule (Monday – Wednesday: office, Thursday – Friday: remote); additional work schedule options available (9/80 or half day Fridays)
