Accountant - Entry Level
Description We are offering a contract for an Accountant - Entry Level in the education industry, specifically within a university context. The role is based in New York, New York, providing an engaging and dynamic workplace environment. Responsibilities: • Take responsibility for the accurate and efficient processing of customer credit applications • Maintain and update customer credit records consistently • Monitor customer accounts and take necessary action based on account status • Prepare and transmit payroll through the university's contracted payroll system, ensuring all tax changes, personnel information changes, and voluntary deductions are updated • Coordinate pay dates and validate payrolls, ensuring accuracy of all employee/student compensation • Prepare and distribute support staff and student timesheets/cards, following up with employees and supervisors to obtain missing timesheets or approvals • Support in preparing invoices for payment by obtaining approvals, matching purchase order numbers, and verifying for possible duplicate payments • Assist in maintaining accounting schedules such as accounts payable accruals and prepaid expenses • Support in the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department, including the preparation, review, and filing of documents • Work with payroll vendors on payroll issues and payroll tax issues • Assist outside Auditors with all required schedules, year-end audit requests, and auditor’s questions. Requirements • Candidate must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in the field of accounting. • Proficiency in account coding is mandatory. • Knowledge and experience with accounting software systems is required. • Proficient in Adobe Acrobat. • Familiarity with Dynamics NAV is preferred. • Experience with ERP Solutions is needed. • Strong account analysis skills. • Ability to handle accounting entries and functions. • Experience in account reconciliation is necessary. • Experience with accounts payable (AP) is a must. • Familiarity with LEED Accounts Payable is advantageous. • Ideal candidate must have a strong understanding of the education industry, specifically university level.
