Accountant
Aplin is currently looking for an experienced accountant for a three-month temporary opportunity in Stony Plain. This role is 100% in-office and will run until the end of May, with the potential for extension. The position will support general accounting functions while assisting with an ongoing ERP transition. The selected candidate will report to the Senior Financial Analyst and work a 35-hour week.  

Roles and Responsibilities:
Perform monthly bank reconciliations for all company bank accounts and investmentsPrepare general journal entries for debentures, reserves, bank transactions, and miscellaneous entriesConduct monthly reviews of revenue and expensesSet up new general ledger accounts as requiredReconcile various ad hoc accounts and allocate interest from investments to operating and reservesPerform cash flow analysis and record investmentsBalance reserves monthly in preparation for reportingAssist with year-end audit, including accruals, working papers, binder preparation, and year-end reportingPrepare and submit quarterly GST reportsReconcile and analyze working papers throughout the yearQualifications:
Degree or diploma in accounting, financeMinimum of 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in a municipal settingStrong understanding of general accounting principles and financial reportingExperience with ERP systems; familiarity with Unit4 and Bellamy Software is an assetIntermediate Excel skills, including data analysis and reportingDetail-oriented with strong problem-solving and organizational skillsAbility to work independently while collaborating with internal teamsStrong communication skills for interacting with various stakeholdersAvailability to work in-office from 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM
