Description One of our clients in the Castro Valley area is looking for an Accountant with Non-profit experience for a contract to permanent placement opportunity. ***Contact Ade Henderson via LinkedIn for immediate consideration*** Accounts Receivable (Grant-Focused): + Accurately classify and record grant-related revenue and accounts receivable in accordance with organizational policies and GAAP principles. + Generate, track, and follow up on invoices related to grants to ensure timely payment and proper allocation of funds. + Monitor and resolve outstanding accounts receivable balances, ensuring alignment with grant agreements. + Maintain detailed records and prepare grant-related financial reports for internal use and external stakeholders. + Respond to inquiries from program managers and funders regarding receivables and grant funding activities. Payroll Processing: + Ensure accurate processing of payroll and maintain compliance with applicable federal, state, and local laws. + Record and reconcile payroll transactions, including taxation, deductions, and allocations, to the general ledger. + Partner with HR to ensure payroll changes (e.g., new hires, terminations, benefits adjustments) are properly implemented. + Perform monthly reconciliations of payroll-related accounts and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner. Bank Reconciliation and Account Monitoring: + Conduct regular bank reconciliations, ensuring accurate recording of all transactions. + Investigate and resolve discrepancies between bank statements and internal records. + Maintain financial data integrity, ensuring funds are accounted for accurately. Requirements + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; equivalent work experience may be considered. + 3+ years of experience in accounting, with a focus on nonprofit organizations. + Hands-on experience with grant accounting and a strong understanding of managing accounts receivable from grants. + Proficiency in bank reconciliations and payroll operations. + Strong understanding of GAAP principles, particularly as they relate to nonprofit accounting. + Familiarity with accounting and payroll software; experience with systems like QuickBooks, ADP, or Paychex is a plus. + Advanced knowledge of Excel, including pivot tables and complex formulas. + Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
