Responsibilities

Manage the full cashbook function, ensuring accurate and timely reconciliation of cashbook to bank statements and the general ledger. Monitor and analyze cash and credit card transactions daily, ensuring alignment with accounts receivable and bank statements. Investigate and resolve unknown charges, deposits, and discrepancies with urgency and accuracy. Ensure all revenue streams (room bookings, dining, events, and other services) are accurately recorded and reconciled daily. Review and verify supporting documentation for transactions, ensuring compliance with hotel policies. Collaborate with the operations and front-office teams to ensure financial data integrity. Execute all month-end processes, including journal entries, accruals, and provisions. Submit an accurate income statement to the Financial Manager by the 4th/5th of each month. Prepare and reconcile balance sheet accounts, including sundry debtors, unallocated deposits, and provisions, ensuring all outstanding issues are resolved. Compile and maintain balance sheet files for audit purposes by the 20th of each month. Manage and reconcile credit card transactions, refunds, and chargebacks. Ensure invoices and payments for suppliers, contractors, and sundry debtors are accurate and processed promptly. Investigate unallocated deposits and work closely with departments to resolve discrepancies. Collaborate with the front office and reservations team to ensure alignment of guest folios and accounts. Prepare and issue invoices for sundry accounts, ensuring timely communication with relevant departments and suppliers. Monitor and report irregularities or anomalies to the Financial Manager and General Manager daily.

Requirements

A Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required. Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent) is a plus. Minimum of 3–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the hospitality or hotel industry. Demonstrated expertise in managing cashbooks, reconciliations, and month-end procedures. Familiarity with hotel management systems and financial software such as Opera, MICROS, or SAP. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational abilities. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools. Effective communication and interpersonal skills for cross-departmental collaboration. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with strict deadlines. Proactive approach to identifying and resolving financial discrepancies. Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity in all financial matters.
