Position Summary Working closely with the Accounting Manager, the Accountant assists with the monthly close of the general ledger and assists with the financial reporting of the hospital, its subsidiaries and affiliates (the companies). Minimum Qualifications Education Bachelor's degree in business administration, accounting or finance including 18 hours of accounting required. Credentials State Required: None required. GPRMC Required/Preferred: None required or preferred. Physical Demands Stand and/or walk occasionally. Sit constantly. Computer use constantly. Bend, stoop, and crouch occasionally. Reach floor to overhead frequently. Push and/or pull 10 pounds occasionally. Lift 50 pounds floor to 30 inches occasionally. Visual acuity, manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination within normal limits. Essential Functions Assists with the monthly close of the general ledger and assists with the financial reporting of the hospital, its subsidiaries and affiliates while effectively following the customer service guidelines established by the organization. Analyzes monthly expenses and revenues for the companies. Analyzes and reconciles balance sheet accounts for companies. Analyzes and prepares monthly account analysis spreadsheets. Analyzes and reconciles cash accounts for all companies to the bank statements. Assists in preparation of cost report, budgets for subsidiaries, and 990's including the community benefit report. Completes quarterly internal audits as directed. These audits include but are not limited to payroll, HME accounts payable, petty cash and remittance advice posting. Prepares, enters, and reconciles monthly journal entries for the companies. Responsible for preparation of tax returns and review of other tax returns. Understands regulations and licensure applicable to own areas of responsibility. Seeks out and attends training on changes occurring. Implements changes to ensure compliance with regulations and licensure. Responsible for maintaining the appropriate documentation required for IRS 1099s. Responsible for preparing Form 1099's and 1096's for vendors and IRS. Monitors, balances and corrects if necessary interfaces or data feeds into the general ledger accounting system monthly or daily.
