Element has an opportunity for a new Statutory Accountant to join our growing Global Business Services team in Edinburgh. This role is part of the team responsible for the final production of the financial statements for the Group’s Trading and Holding companies.

 

This is a great moment to join one of the fastest growing companies in the Testing, Inspection and Certification, whilst the opportunity is initially fixed term contract, there is ultimately a requirement for permanent resource in this team.

 

Responsibilities Provide high quality support to the Senior Technical Finance Manager and Group Tax team as requiredPreparation of the Group’s subsidiary statutory accounts for both Trading and Holding companies (as well as Dormant companies), via Workiva cloud platform, in preparation for Audit and filingPreparation of extended trial balances from source systemsCreation of detailed working files from which statutory accounts will be directly preparedSupport of internal / external audit processes & ensuring an effective control environmentSupport work for all corporation tax computationsVery strong focus on processes and procedures and the ability to follow and document theseOther responsibilities that may be assigned from time to time Skills / Qualifications Qualified ACA, ACCA or CIMA accountant with experience in a senior finance rolesDemonstrable experience in financial statement preparation and reporting in a complex group organisationStrong technical accounting background and knowledge (IFRS and UK GAAP), with the ability to challenge auditors if requiredFinance Systems understanding to ensure that applications are effective and efficient in supporting the Group/Finance/GL TeamGreat planning and organisational abilityA keen eye for detail and analytical skillsVAT and Corporate Tax understanding beneficialExcellent interpersonal skills with ability to interact with individuals at all levels in the organisationAbility to prioritise workloads and work within a fast paced and changing environment
