**SUMMARY**
+ This position offers the potential to make a solid impact on the organization and will be responsible for inventory costing and reconciliation.
+ The Cost Accountant will work with accounting staff and other functions within AAR to assure on-time delivery of accurate financial results.
+ This role will prepare you for higher positions within accounting by developing your analytical skills and will give you the skills needed to be successful in other accounting and finance roles within AAR.
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
+ Gathers and correlates basic accounting, cash, budget and other financial information using established procedures.
+ Applies fundamental concepts in the application of any judgments to relatively routine matters.
+ Provides accounting for the assigned organization entity or facility, verifying the accuracy of journal entries, budget and accounting classifications and charges to assigned accounts.
+ Conducts special studies and develops financial reports for the facility.
+ Performs such individual assignments as manager and superiors may direct; ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.
+ Supports monthly close process.
+ All other duties as assigned.
**Performance Objectives**
+ **Business Mindset (Business Acumen):** During the first 90 days, learn AAR’s major financial systems and month end close procedures.
+ **People Awareness (Building Relationships):** In Year 1, develop relationships with peers in accounting, finance and accounts payable to better understand the record to report cycle.
+ **Embrace Growth (Building Confidence & Integrity):** After 6 months become a process owner for Cost accounting such as: cost is recognized in the correct period, financial statement review, Intercompany settlement, and other month-end duties.
+ **Do It Right (Accountability):** After 9 months streamline processes and improve accuracy of accounting deliverables where needed.
Qualifications:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
**EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE**
+ Bachelor of Arts degree (B.A.) or Bachelor of Science degree (B.S.) from four-year college or university; or eight years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel required, and the ability to adapt to new systems.
+ Pursuing or possess a CPA is a plus

The anticipated salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000 annually. This range reflects the base salary for candidates who meet the requirements of the role, including experience, education, and location. In addition to base pay, this role is eligible for a bonus.
