JOB DESCRIPTION ACCOUNTANT– NASHUA EAST LONDON
The person in the company vested with the responsibility and authority for ensuring that the
appropriate checks and balances are in place to facilitate ethical financial practices, providing
financial information to management by analyzing accounting data and preparing reports. The
person should have very good time management skills as achieving all deadlines is key.
Accountant Duties and Responsibilities Provides financial information to management by researching and analyzing accounting data, preparing reports. Prepares asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Documents financial transactions by entering account information. Recommends financial actions by analyzing accounting options. Summarizes current financial status by collecting information, preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports. Substantiates financial transactions by auditing documents. Maintains accounting controls by preparing and recommending policies and procedures. Guides accounting clerical staff by coordinating activities and answering queries. Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information. Maintains financial security by following internal controls. Prepares payments by verifying documentation and requesting disbursements. Answers accounting procedure questions by researching and interpreting accounting policy and regulations. Complies with South African legislation and accounting standards by studying existing and new legislation/accounting standards that affect the company, enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions. Prepares special financial reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing account information and trends. Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping financial information confidential. All Ad hoc tasks that re requested in line with business requirements. Accountant Tasks: Month end process Asset Register A/P process Reporting TAX related process Franchise Fees (FF) Internal/External Audit process Requirements and skills Solid Accounting Standards understanding and implementation skills. Solid Corporate Finance understanding• Reporting Skills Deadline-Oriented and Time Management skills Advance Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Word, etc.) Proven ability to calculate, post and manage accounting figures and financial records. Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers. Hands-on experience with spreadsheets and proprietary software Proficiency in English High degree of accuracy and attention to detail. BSc degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration (Optional) Confidentiality on all information. Problem solving skills. Education, Experience, and Licensing Requirements:Bachelor’s or master’s degree in tax, accounting, or finance
Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in accounting/finance
Experience with financial reporting requirements
