ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE III (HVAC ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE)
Position Overview: Southern Company Gas is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Account Executive III (HVAC Account Executive) to join our team. This role is pivotal in planning, developing, managing, measuring, and evaluating the financial feasibility of marketing programs with HVAC, plumbers, and appliance distributors. The primary goal is to retain and increase the use of natural gas appliances and products among residential and commercial consumers within our service territory.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Promote the benefits of natural gas to prospective customers, emphasizing multiple burner tips. Obtain contractor requests for residential and/or commercial gas projects. Attend sales meetings, monthly conference calls, and trade association meetings. Build and maintain relationships with builders, contractors, manufacturers, and trade partners. Meet or exceed territory and/or customer goals. Ensure excellent customer service and satisfaction by responding to customer needs and ensuring effective scheduling. Represent the Company at industry meetings, communicating policies and procedures. Respond to customer and contractor inquiries regarding rebate and customer retention programs. Assist with the deployment and distribution of natural gas emerging technology through dealer networks. Manage the cooperative advertising program for local dealers and manufacturers. Track and monitor program participation and relationships with local HVAC dealers, plumbers, and product manufacturers. Participate in professional and trade organizations to enhance the company’s corporate image. Develop relationships with dealers to ensure participation in marketing and energy efficiency programs. Maintain databases and distribution lists for natural gas preferred partners. Collaborate with field sales, energy efficiency program managers, and the Director of Emerging Technologies. Manage the local budget associated with the cooperative advertising dealer program. Achieve targeted program participation numbers and monitor member compliance.QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
BA/BS degree in engineering, marketing, business administration, or a related field. In lieu of a degree, 5-7 years of experience in the natural gas industry may be substituted. Experience in sales, customer service, understanding gas, field operations, construction operations, and rates and regulations. Valid driver's license and access to reliable transportation.Preferred:
2-3 years of sales experience in HVAC, plumbing, or product sales. Project management experience. Mechanical or industrial engineering background with extensive knowledge of the natural gas industry.SKILLS:
Required:
Effective selling, listening, and communication skills with customers and contractors. Ability to articulate the benefits of natural gas appliances over competitive fuel appliances. Organizational and negotiation skills. Intermediate proficiency in computer literacy, including MS Office, Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint. Knowledge of natural gas distribution system facilities. Strong mechanical aptitude related to natural gas appliance installations. Excellent presentation skills. Team oriented & self-starter.Preferred:
Project management experience.WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Perform fieldwork tasks year-round. Office environment with some travel required (up to 30%). Safety-sensitive role requiring travel/driving to meet with customers. Frequent meetings with contractors/builders at construction sites, with exposure to extreme temperatures, noise, and atmospheric conditions.
