Lucid's Exterior Systems/Trim team is looking for an engineer specializing in design/development of exterior accessories for automotive projects.
Role
Manage the engineering introduction of new exterior trim accessories from concept into production.
Create cutting edge parts for exterior systems focusing on quality, reliability, functionality, mass and cost efficiency
Work interactively within a cross functional studio, marketing and vehicle engineering teams, understanding the business case of each particular project
Develop and implement benchmarking and testing plans and activities in order to deliver a continued improvement in product.
Qualifications
3+ years of experience in vehicle exterior trim accessories or SVO (special vehicle operations) design & development. This includes design related experience with at least some of the following areas:
- Fascias
- Exterior ornamentation
- Brightware / DLO finishers
- Sill trims, Rocker Panels,
- Underbody aero shields
- Wheelhouse liners
- Glazing
- Exterior Mechanisms (Wiper system, AGS, Side mirrors)
Previous experience and background in solving complex technical issues and challenges
Proven experience creating complex CAD schemes and models to an excellent standard, preferably using CATIA V5 or V6
Proven experience with thermoplastic & thermoset resin materials and class A manufacturing technologies (including painting)
A good understanding of the range of computational tools available to design engineers
Launch experience
Advantageous
Direct hands-on exterior trim accessories or SVO experience
Developing test plan and schedule for new products
A strong desire to create the very best product, working as an integral part of a very capable team
Well-developed team working and interpersonal skills
A great work ethic
Education
Bachelor of Science (minimum) in Mechanical Engineering or relevant engineering discipline.
