POSITION SUMMARY:
We are currently hiring an Accessibility Test Specialist to support our global hardware client onsite in Vancouver, Washington. This individual will help develop and maintain HP programs, processes, and tools that enable HP web and hardware designers, developers, content authors, and partner agencies to create and maintain HP’s web properties, electronic documentation, and accessible hardware products. While this role is technical in nature and the ideal candidate would benefit from experience in an ever-evolving R&D team culture, it also requires care in human factors. This is a long-term position which offers comprehensive benefits with normal working hours at the client’s site with a Monday-Friday work week.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
Performs various hardware, software, and web testing to determine the functionality of mechanical or computer equipment as it relates to human factors and accessibility.Participates in the testing, debugging, and troubleshooting of new and existing equipment and products.Supporting an R&D team across multiple projects; working closely and collaborating with hardware and web engineering, design, QA, and marketing teams to identify and scope accessibility features for HP hardware products and web services.Facilitate testing and research across multiple labs/teams’ procedures with a focus on inclusivity with human factors, accessibility, and age-related limitations.Compile and maintain accurate product documentation and reports, including collecting and accurately reporting test data using predetermined spreadsheets and applicable databases.Stay up to date on the latest developments and industry’s best practices to ensure HP's hardware products and web services comply with worldwide disability laws and accessibility standards.Track and report on project progress for the team.Participate in audits or respond to inquiries from certification bodies. Must be able to work in different enclosed climate environments including hot/humid, cold/wet, etc. Examples include 59F/10% RH and 104F/80% RH. (Operators may spend up to 10 minutes in the hot/humid environment).Flexibility to support and cross train in other labs and projects, as requested.Perform additional duties as assigned. QualificationsMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills required with the ability to effectively communicate with varied levels of employees.Ability to work independently and with a team.Be physically able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds.Be physically able to sit or stand for extended periods, climb step stools, bend, kneel and stoop frequently.Be willing to perform repetitive, sometimes sedentary work.Strong attention to detail with ability to follow detailed directions.At minimum, intermediate user knowledge and experience with PC's including Microsoft Office products like Word, Excel, and Access with comfortability navigating and viewing web pages.PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with the application of web and hardware accessibility evaluation, methods, and tools is a +.Experience with assistive technologies such as JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver and a general understanding of accessibility-related software is a +.Minimum 2 years’ work experience as a technician in a product development test environment is greatly preferred. 2 years' work experience requirement may be waived/reduced depending on education qualifications, skillset, industry standard certifications or other related industry work experience.Bachelor's degree in STEM is preferred with a focus/study in accessibility.
