PURPOSE
The Academic Success Coach I, under supervision, addresses individual academic, financial, career, and social issues that affect the success of undergraduate students who are conditionally admitted to the University, as well as students who fall below good academic standing. The Academic Success Coach I connects students to resources that will assist in their success, monitors student progress and maintains records for their assigned caseload, and contributes to the overall efforts of the Academic Coaching Program within the College Readiness and Academic Support unit.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Student Support: 50%
+ Provide scholastic direction and advice to students in individual and group formats.
+ Maintain individual caseload of students.
+ Meet and follow up with students regarding general scholastic questions, concerns, and needs.
+ Refer students to University resources to assist with time management, test preparation, study skills, and additional supplemental academic support services.
+ Foster retention and identified groups of students through activities such as academic coaching, mentoring of student academic progress to include midterm and final grades, and other support programs.
Program Support: 25%
+ Assist with implementation of projects to achieve specific, academic objectives or outcomes.
+ Respond to inquires from students and interpret university and college policies and procedures.
+ Participate in program, unit, and campus-wide events (orientations, workshops, fairs) to advance the work of the Academic Coaching Program.
Records Management: 20%
+ Engage in related academic activities including, but not limited to, maintaining records, administering and interpreting student assessment inventories, making referrals, and managing student progress reports.
+ Maintain records of student contracts and achievements.
Other Duties : 5 %
+ Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
+ Bachelor’s degree.
+ Experience with at-risk populations, conditionally admitted students, and/or students on university scholastic probation.
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.
PREFFERD QUALIFICATIONS
+ Master’s degree.
+ At least three (3) years of experience with at-risk populations, conditionally admitted students, and/or students on university scholastic probation.
+ Familiarity with student information systems, including Starfish, Banner, DegreeWorks, and Argos.
SALARY: $18.79 Hourly ( $39,083.20/ANNUALLY, APPROXIMATELY)
