Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._ **Responsibilities:** GENERAL PURPOSE: Advises undergraduate students in academic program planning. Provides and obtains factual information with respect to registration in courses and degree requirements. Assists students having academic difficulties and makes appropriate referrals. Helps students understand and interpret policies impacting their enrollment and progress toward their degree. May assist faculty, deans, and/or senior administrators in administrative matters. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** + Advises students in academic program planning and goal setting, using knowledge of academic programs, courses, prerequisites, degree requirements, rules, and regulations. Audits student progress towards degree. Understands and applies complex academic policies that may involve other offices, such as Financial Aid and the International Services Office. + Assists students seeking preliminary career counseling and special academic programs. Guides students in preparation of petitions and applications. Refers students to faculty or other offices for specialized help. Holds informational meetings. + Advises students regarding transfer credit process. Supports students who experience academic difficulties and are placed on academic probation. Serves as an advisor and is the primary academic advisor for a cohort of students. + Participates on various office teams or committees related to advising functions or populations, such as academic probation, transfer students, or students in a particular major or program. + Maintains contact with faculty and departmental staff, directors, deans, or other administrators regarding advising program and consults on individual cases as required. Responds to a high volume of emails from students, staff, faculty, and other constituents. Maintains confidential student records. Adopts new advising technologies/software and understands trends in the higher education field.
