Principal Project Engineer

Your role and responsibilities

You will be part of a 12-month program working with the Kiruna Truck Service team underground. Under the Discovery program, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with different leaders and teams and contribute to the company’s strategic initiatives for ABB’s Business in the Mining and Mineral Processing segment.ABB's Mining Service team of industrial automation professionals delivers solutions and services ensuring our customers get the most out of their investment. Our automation and digitalization solutions enhance safety, plant and enterprise productivity, while reducing maintenance and energy costs. Deep domain knowledge enables us to truly understand and address our customers’ needs and opportunities.You will attend the June orientation with all other participants in the Discovery program. This comprehensive program is designed to develop young talent, enabling personal and professional growth and networking. A designated program manager will accompany you throughout your journey. •\tStart your career in the mining industry and gain practical experience – provide preventative maintenance and troubleshooting support for ABB’s Kiruna truck systems and associated ABB product in the design including ABB ACS880 Drives, AC800M controllers, Control Builder software, Panel 800 and dataloggers.•\tContribute to continuous improvement - support the implementation, delivery, and continuous improvement of ABB’s mining solutions and services.•\tDesign, implement and conduct maintenance programs to maximize the availability and operational effectiveness of our products. •\tGrow with us through formal training programs, regular performance feedback, and professional mentoring.•\tRegular travel to underground sites is required to provide on-site services. This may include occasional travel outside the Sudbury area for both customer on-site services as well as training.

Qualifications for the role

Completed Industrial/construction electrician’s certificate of qualification (College Diploma or University Degree in electrical or instrumentation studies is an asset) before the start of the program.Maximum two years of professional work experience by the start date, ideally within the automation and electrical application process industries.Electrical / Instrumentation Fundamentals.Basic Sciences (Pressures and Forces, Hydraulic and pneumatics, mathematics).Can read circuit diagrams and troubleshoot circuitry with electrical test equipment (Multimeter, Megger).Good communication skills, including the ability to write technical reports and speak effectively before customers or employees of the client organization.This position requires residence in the Sudbury region.Must already have a work authorization that would permit you to work for ABB in Canada and must be available to travel to any of our Canadian sites.
