Marzetti Company is looking to hire team members who will grow with us on our journey towards world class operational excellence. The position of Machine Operator maintains the packaging machine within acceptable tolerances, maintains ongoing production to achieve schedule goals while keeping raw and packaging material scrap and downtime as low as possible. Performs product changeovers. Performs minor adjust Finish ments, maintenance and repairs to equipment within certification. Actively participates in department/shift/team meetings and is involved with improvement/resolutions & follow-up. Performs daily inspection of all PPE required including but not limited to SLIP-RESISTANT/STEEL-TOED SHOES, safety glasses, gloves, shields and aprons to ensure good overall condition of items that provide optimal personal safety & protection while working in the facility. If required for assigned tasks, successfully acquires and maintains Lock Out-Tag Out Certification for machine and safely performs all functions in accordance to OHSA and company requirements and standards. As required, performs daily inspection of any applicable power equipment with proper documentation. As a member of the T. Marzetti Company, completes his/her Behavior Based Safety Observations (BBSO), corrects issues when identified, and participates in problem solving. Leads and promotes a strong Food Safety Culture within the facility Completes his/her Behavior Based Quality observations (BBQs), corrects issues when identified and participates in problem solving. Ensures compliance to quality, Food Safety Preventive Control (FSPC), FSMA, Food Defense, , OSHA and other support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards. Reviews, understands, and complies with all applicable SOPs containing Process or Preventive Control monitoring or verification, if trained and designated as a Qualified Individual (QI). Communicates any concerns related to product safety, integrity, quality and legality to management or to the confidential hotline if the need for anonymity is necessary. Changes packaging materials as needed; ensures packaging materials are correct, in specification and properly positioned in the machine. Records all lot information as required. Ensures finished product is of high quality, i.e. no packets in registration and within weight control; inspects filled containers to ensure that product is according to specifications. Maintains standard production quantities/rates for each product. Ensures date codes are accurate and in correct format. Maintains company standards for cleanliness, food safety and productivity in the packaging area. Replenishes packaging supplies such as film. adjustments/repairs; communicates mechanical problems to maintenance personnel. Mounts supplies on spindles or places supplies in hoppers or other feeding devices. Ensures compliance to quality, food safety and HAACP support programs; assures conformity to all company, customer and government standards. Notify supervisor and maintenance of equipment downtime. Qualifications Prior machine operating experience in a food manufacturing environment preferred. Basic mechanical aptitude, working knowledge of manufacturing equipment operation and good math skills are required. Positive attitude and problem-solving mentality. Capable of communicating and expressing ideas clearly and concisely, in both written and verbal formats. Ability to read & interpret written & verbal direction while working in a safe, effective & productive manner within a fast- paced environment. Regular on time attendance is required in accordance with Company attendance policy and procedures.
