Job Description

To perform repair and maintenance to machinery, mechanical equipment, production machines and equipment, as well as building maintenance support. Participates in the activities of the Itasca Maintenance team to meet targets set on each shift for safety, production and maintenance repair. Along with management the supervisor and group leaders coordinates smooth transition between shifts of operation. This position supports the safe set-up and operations of manufacturing machines and ancillary equipment to perform production of manufactured product which meets manufacturing specifications. The maintenance tech is expected to act quickly to correct operating conditions outside of standard and report all situations that are beyond normal conditions to management in a timely manner.  The position is expected to support and manage projects and report out on progress to supervisors and plant manager.

Core Responsibilities:

Maintain and perform major repairs and rebuilds on production and auxiliary machinery in a manufacturing environment. This includes, but not limited to; mechanical, electrical (including PLC), hydraulic, pneumatic, facility and grounds.Proficiently maintain machinery through preventive maintenance; lubrication, cleaning and replacement of parts.Identify safety hazards on machinery and in work area, report, and together with Plant manager and/or supervisors develop a resolution plan.Follow all prescribed safety/housekeeping practices and procedures. Perform 5-S activities and improvements as required.Keep all manufacturing lines up and running and assist manufacturing teams with all problems relating to product quality and machine safety, including lock out / tag out procedures.Provide shift/department direction on maintenance needs to help production teams meet planned production schedule.Maintain the building facilities.  Insure building security and maintain water and fire systems.Lead and maintain projects to support Plant initiatives and improve efficiency within production.Sustain effective communications with team members, as well as with management, ensuring alignment within the department as well as production. Participate in team events and meetings.Maintain safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal codes and regulations.Other duties as assigned

QualificationsHS Diploma or GED equivalent, with two to three years of industrial experience in a high-volume/high-output manufacturing environment. Prefer three years’ experience in a fastener making capacity.Prior experience in training and experience in maintenance tasks including electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, PLC systgems,  welding and other maintenance related tasks.Familiarity with workplace 5S, Standard Operating Procedure (SOPs) and Preventative Maintenance programs, CMMS programs.Certified to drive a forklift.Able to work within established health, safety and quality guidelines and the ability to organize the workload and meet deadlines.Able to add, subtract, multiply and divide, using whole numbers/decimals and the ability to apply concepts of business math to practical situations.Able to apply understanding to carry out detailed instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram format.
