Candidates for this position may be eligible for Freeport-McMoRan immigration work visa sponsorship based on the following criteria:
A foreign national working in a full-time status on an F-1 visa may be considered for H-1B visa sponsorship based on business needs, meeting company performance and safety expectations and with site approval. A foreign national working in a full-time status may be considered for employment-based permanent residency sponsorship, based on business needs, completion of six (6) months of employment, meeting company performance and safety expectations and with site approval.
Where You Will Work
Freeport-McMoRan is a leading international metals company with global headquarters in Phoenix, Arizona. Several hundred employees support our operations in accounting and finance, human resources, health and safety, information technology, planning, engineering, and more. Our hybrid internship program allows interns to work virtually as well as come together in person regularly at our Collaboration Hub in Phoenix and/or our site locations. Interns participating in our hybrid internship program will be expected to live within a reasonable commuting distance – 50 miles one-way – of the company’s corporate offices to ensure availability when meeting attendance/collaboration is needed. Interns living more than 50 miles away would be required to relocate and would be eligible for travel and housing assistance.
DescriptionUnder general supervision, will perform project work assigned per department.
Below are samples of summer projects that interns will be assigned:
Civil & Structural Engineering Include:Assist with the review on civil structural deliverables including drawings, study reports, engineering specifications submitted by consultant.Facilitate smooth execution of projects by attending regular progress meetings with consultant, vendors and visiting construction site.Assist engineering manager to organize the meetings and follow up with issues arise.Review engineering calculations under the supervision of senior engineer assigned to the project.Perform other duties as required.Control & Instrumentation Engineering Include:Assist with the review of P&I Drawings under the supervision of a senior engineer assigned to the project.Review I & C specifications and data sheets under the supervision of a senior engineer assigned to the project.Assist senior engineer to organize the meetings and follow up with issues arise.Perform other duties as required.Electrical Engineering Include: Support Maintenance Division, Process Control, and Automation related systemsAssists in the review, investigation and development of appropriate recommendations regarding electrical engineering projectsInteracts on a frequent basis with internal and external electrical engineering resourcesParticipates on small to medium site construction, expansion or modification projectsDevelop working knowledge of local, state and federal regulations appropriate to area of assignmentPerform other duties as required.Mechanical Engineering Include: Assembles data and assists with problem-solving requiring basic theories and engineering fundamentalsUtilizes computer programs to solve engineering problemsReview of general arrangements, process and instrumentation diagrams, process flow diagrams, piping and mechanical drawings, equipment lists, and other project related deliverablesAssists with layout and design of routine small and medium-sized engineering projects Assist in coordinating mechanical and other engineering projects to include developing a scope of work, generating cost estimate and preparing a project information packagePerform other duties as required.QualificationsMinimum Requirements:
Full-time student currently enrolled at an accredited four-year university majoring in an appropriate Engineering discipline; ORRecent college graduate having graduated within 12 months prior to internship start date with a degree in appropriate Engineering disciplineProficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPointPossesses strong data analysis and problem solving skillsHighly accurate and detail orientedPossesses strong oral and written communication skillsDemonstrates initiative, organizational skills and ability to work well under pressureDemonstrates ability to collaborate and work effectively in a team environmentMust be able to demonstrate our core values of honesty, fairness, respect, trust, and integrity
Criteria/Conditions:

The estimated pay range for this role is currently $27.50 - $34.25/hour. Individual pay rates will be based on level of education and relevant experience.
