2025 Summer Intern - Large Molecule Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology
Department Summary
Biochemical and Cellular Pharmacology (BCP) department works towards developing novel biochemical and cellular assays to support the drug discovery process across various therapeutic areas within Genentech. The scientists working at various levels contribute towards many critical areas for pipeline projects and cross-collaborate with other departments to push these forward for clinical trials.
This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site only.
The Opportunity
Learning and optimizing novel bioanalytical technologies for assessment of pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic markers across different matrices (serum, tissues, feces etc.) to support the pre-clinical research.
Gain and utilize domain knowledge of different therapeutic area and large molecules to develop a specific and sensitive bioanalytical assay.
Learn and work with state-of-the-art automation systems, liquid handlers to conduct high throughput bioanalytical assays.
Effective communication skills to present your findings in various presentations within department and across cross-functional teams.
Program Highlights
Intensive 12-weeks, full-time (40 hours per week) paid internship.
Program start dates are in May/June (Summer 2025).
A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.
Ownership of challenging and impactful business-critical projects.
Work with some of the most talented people in the biotechnology industry.
Who You Are (Required)
Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:
Must be pursuing a Master's degree (enrolled student).
Must have attained a Master's degree.
Must be pursuing a PhD (enrolled student).
Required Majors: Bioengineering, Immunology, Biochemistry, Molecular/Cell Biology.
Required Skills
Previous experience with bioanalytical techniques such as ELISA, MSD, etc.
Previous tissue processing experience
Prior lab experience with expertise in biochemical and cellular assays
Knowledgeable with previous experience working with statistical software such as GraphPad PRISM, Xlfit etc as well as MS word, powerpoint.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Previous experience working with tissue homogenizer
Familiarity or past experience working with high-throughput automation systems
Understanding of the drug-discovery process.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of California is $40.00-$45.00 hour. Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
