2025 Summer Intern - Early Clinical Development, Clinical Imaging Group

Department Summary

Genentech’s Research and Early Development (gRED) Early Clinical Development (ECD) organization is responsible for developing and executing early development clinical strategies and plans to provide proof-of-concept data with respect to safety, efficacy, and the utility of biomarkers for gRED new molecular entities.

Working within the Clinical Imaging Group, the intern will support a project focused on Alzheimer’s Disease (AD). In particular, the intern will analyze PET imaging data to better understand how tau pathology relates to clinical endpoints in AD. Insights from these analyses will contribute to our understanding of Alzheimer’s disease and will inform the use of PET imaging in clinical trials.

This internship position is located in South San Francisco, on-site.

Program Highlights

Intensive 12-weeks, full time (40 hours per week) paid internship.

Program start dates are in May/June (Summer).

A stipend, based on location, will be provided to help alleviate costs associated with the internship.

Who You Are (Required) 

Required Education: You meet one of the following criteria:

Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree. 

Required Majors: Biology, Data Science, Neuroscience, Biotechnology, Psychology, Computer Science, Biomedical Science

Required skills

Strong programming skills, coding in MATLAB, python, or R.

Experience working with the principles and techniques of data analysis and visualization, interpretation, and assessment of clinical relevance.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Qualifications

Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.

Experience analyzing clinical or healthcare data.

Interest or experience in neurosciences and neurodegenerative diseases.

Experience processing and analyzing MRI and PET brain images.

Excellent project management skills: can prioritize multiple tasks and goals and deliver them in a timely, on-target and high-quality manner.

Can influence without authority and is willing to cultivate relationships with key partners and stakeholders, both internally and externally.

Strong presentation skills: effective at summarizing and presenting the key considerations and decision-points.

Excellent teamwork skills: knows how to complete deliverables by working effectively with colleagues; can effectively drive discussions and decisions toward desired end results.

Relocation benefits are not available for this job posting. 

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location for this position in California is $45.00 per hour.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. This position also qualifies for paid holiday time off benefits.
