The Statistics Group in the Department of Technology, Operations and Statistics at the Stern School of Business, New York University, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level starting in the 2025-26 academic year. Statistics is a multidisciplinary program at the Stern School. The Statistics faculty at NYU Stern have diverse interests and expertise, and share a strong commitment to analytical and field-based research relating to statistical science. Appropriate candidates will have evidence of boundary-spanning interests across fields that reflect significant interfaces of Statistics with areas of relevance in a Business School, such as Information Technology, Operations Management, Marketing, Economics, and Finance. The Statistics Group includes 8 full-time Statistics faculty members and a number of faculty affiliates, and has diverse interests and expertise, including Actuarial Science, Biostatistics, Categorical Data, Computationally Intensive Methodology, Econometrics, High-Dimensional Statistics, Multivariate Statistics, Reinforcement Learning, Statistical Machine Learning, Stochastic Processes, and Time Series Analysis. In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is $150,000 - $250,000. This pay range represents base pay only (for 9 months) and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Candidates should have a PhD, or must have successfully defended their doctoral dissertation prior to appointment, and are expected to be productive researchers and effective teachers at undergraduate, MBA and PhD levels. Experience in classroom teaching is highly desirable. The formal starting date is expected to be September 1, 2025. However, a 1-year delay may be considered for the purpose of a postdoctoral appointment.
