Tradesmen International is immediately hiring experienced 1st Class Shipfitters for projects located in and around Newport News, VA.  This is a first shift opportunity with a pay range of up to $45/hour based on experience and skill level.  If you are a Shipfitter and want to work alongside other proven craftsmen who emphasize safety, productivity and superior craftsmanship, this is your chance to advance your career! 

 

Job Scope:

Multi-Pass Tack WeldingBurning & Heating Oxygen/Propane Burning TorchLayoff Piece Parts for Fabrication and AssemblyAssemble Structural Piece Parts in Accordance with SpecificationsAir Carbon Arc GougingErect, Set, and Makeup Complex Shaped Shell Plates, Decks, Bulkheads, Longitudinal, Trunks, etc.Install and Replace Hull Inserts and Penetrations, Miscellaneous and Complex FoundationsRigger, Material HandlingTank TestingMobile Equipment Operation (JLG, Scissor Lift, etc.)Other Tasks as Assigned

Requirements:

Minimum of 4 Years of Commercial/Naval Experience as a First Class ShipfitterExperience must be Documented on Advanced Shipfitter Summary Sheet Prior to ArrivalAble to Pass Various Weld TestsAbility to Comprehend Complex Structural Assembly Drawings, Blueprints, and Sketches to include Weld Symbols, Material Types Datum, and Reference LinesAbility to Comprehend Fractional Dimensions as with the use of a RulerExperience Working in a Physically Demanding Environment, Shipbuilding, Steel Fabrication, etc.Familiarity with OSHA Regulations relative to the Shipbuilding IndustryAbility to use Work Packages, Drawings, Molded Lines, and Ship Reference Lines to Execute Work
