Position Summary:

To further the mission of the camp through assisting with the planning and delivery of activities at the camp swimming pool that is safe, fun, and appropriate to the camper’s age and abilities. Assist with providing management to the physical operation of the pool facilities and equipment.

Essential Functions:

Assist in supervising a safe and fun swimming pool. Assist in evaluating swimming abilities of all guests. Maintain the physical facilities and equipment in the pool and locker. Monitor proper use of pool and lifesaving. Assist in conducting initial and end-of-season inventory, and store equipment for Conduct a daily check of equipment for safety, cleanliness, and good. Survey the pool area and surrounding area daily and keep the area free of hazards and Always maintain a clean and safe poolside environment, making sure that the pool is vacated and locked when not in use. Complete daily chemical checks and adjust pool chemicals as needed to ensure proper pool function and guest safety.

Working Conditions:

Prolonged standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching on an intermittent or sometimes continuous basis. Ability to grasp, push, and pull objects. Ability to lift 25 lbs. Operate with daily exposure to various weather conditions. Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers.

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum of 16 years of age Ability to exercise Good character, integrity, and adaptability Interest in and ability to work with Current Lifeguard Certificate Current Standard First Aid/CPR

Skills, Knowledge & Abilities:

Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff. Ability to observe swimmer’s behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques. Ability to handle all pool chemicals and identify how to manage and adjust water quality. Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate program equipment and Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate guest activities/programs.
